I lightly explore how food intertwines with culture, history, love, and community, particularly through the lens of my personal experiences with porridge, hard dough bread, aaaaand with Snickers bars. The preparation and sharing of food, especially cornmeal porridge, are explained like rituals that evoke memories of family bonds and cultural practices, especially how my grandma tapped into her meticulous, almost alchemical process of making porridge. I also connect this personal experience to a larger meditation around embracing learning and intuition outside conventional structures, drawing a parallel between spontaneous hella-structured-for-no-good-reason learning, and the rhythmic, intuitive art of cooking.
